{"id":61,"date":"2005-10-13T02:23:00","date_gmt":"2005-10-12T17:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fugutabetai.com\/blog\/2005\/10\/13\/visit-to-hiroshima-city-university\/"},"modified":"2005-10-13T02:23:00","modified_gmt":"2005-10-12T17:23:00","slug":"visit-to-hiroshima-city-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fugutabetai.com\/blog\/2005\/10\/13\/visit-to-hiroshima-city-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Visit to Hiroshima City University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>On Wednesday morning I went to Hiroshima City University (\u5e83\u5cf6\u5e02\u7acb\u5927\u5b66) and met with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nlp.its.hiroshima-cu.ac.jp\/~nanba\/\">Professor Hidetsugu Nanba (\u96e3\u6ce2 \u82f1\u55e3)<\/a>, and was introduced to Dr. Teruaki Aizawa (\u76f8\u6ca2 \u8f1d\u662d \u5148\u751f).  I gave my multi-lingual multi-document summarization talk, as well as a brief demo of NewsBlaster and a short talk about graduate student life at Columbia University.  Professor Nanba and one of his students, Ms. Taniguchi, gave a talk about their work on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presri.com\/\">PRESRI, an automated survey paper generation system<\/a>, although currently it identifies survey papers.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Afterwards I met with some of the students, and saw a brief presentation on some of their hetergeneous database searching research that also uses some interesting citation analysis methods.<br \/>\n<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P><br \/>\nI had some Hiroshima Yaki (a type of okonomiyaki) at Micchan (a chain) at Hiroshima station.  Then I caught my 6:30pm Nozomi to Tokyo, and arrived at Shin-Yokohama at 10:10pm.  I wish they had electrical outlets so I could use my laptop for longer than the hour that the battery lasts, but I really like the Shinkansen rail system.
