It is freely available (at the link above, but I also have an Amazon.com link for the pretty cover) on his website and I highly recommend that you read it.  This is a &#8220;near future&#8221; type book, before the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Technological_singularity\">the singularity<\/a> (which honestly, I believe in as a concept, but I don&#8217;t think we are anywhere near the point that we&#8217;ll have to worry about computers taking over our world &#8211; I work with computers and they continually confound me at how non-intelligent they are!) and much before Vernon Vinge&#8217;s other works.  <\/p>\n<p><P\/><\/p>\n<p>It is an excellent novel.  Go read it now.  I&#8217;ve bought a lot of Vernor Vinge&#8217;s novels, and I think they are great.  Maybe that is just because he&#8217;s an ex-computer science professor, but he&#8217;s written some really interesting stuff, even <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/search?ie=UTF8&#038;keywords=Vernor%20Vinge&#038;tag=daveva-20&#038;index=books&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325\">his earlier works<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=daveva-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> (like Marooned in Realtime) which I think are kind of under-appreciated.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So in my continuing line of ebook reviews, I present Vernon Vinge&#8217;s Rainbows End.
