Fire Cafe Zero (Zero Sugar)
Another new (to me) japanese canned coffee. It was not very sweet, but that is to be expected: it is a Zero Sugar coffee. Still, it wasn't that bad, and I had no trouble drinking it. I'm not going to buy it again though. :)

Ryusendo Coffee Black
Yesterday I tried the Ryusendo Black Coffee. It was awful. I should have known; it says right on it "no sugar", and I like my canned coffees a bit on the sweet side. Still, I had tried another Ryusendo coffee, so I thought I should round out the set.
After two sips, I dumped it and got a nice Georgia Caffé Espresso. That is more my style. Sweet, and easy to drink.
These blog posts are pretty boring, but I like the idea of documenting the Japanese coffee cans. I really want to find more of the cans with manga characters on them, since that was supposed to be some special limited run thing. I might have missed out on most of them though. If that is the case I will have to give up my afternoon coffee again I think.

Reviving the Japanese Daily Coffee Posts
So a while back I quit doing updates here, mostly because I quit drinking coffee. Usually when I go overseas though I start up again. I went to Morocco recently for a conference / honeymoon and started drinking coffee again. I haven't been motivated to quit since coming back, and have been enjoying another cup of coffee each day. So here is a backlog where I'll post a few pictures.
I bought Georgia's Essence Drop purely because it looks like it would be something that shows up in a JRPG. I don't have any memories of the drink itself though. Middle of the road.
The Fire Coffees are the ones that I usually drink, and they are pretty good. I've had this one a couple of times, and think it is pretty good.
I also am a fan of the Boss coffees, and was intrigued by the Switch Shot. It was a bit bitter and not as good as Rainbow Mountain, which is one of my favorites.
I hadn't heard of Ryusendo before, and didn't really like it too much.
Kirin Fire Special is another cofffee that I like a lot.
The wonda gold was pretty good.
Finally, three Nescafe coffees. I like when they put manga characters on them, and I think those last two are Golgo 13. I never read that though, so I'm not too positive.

DyDo Blend Coffee

A blurry picture, but this is DyDo Blend coffee. It seemed unremarkable, but I would drink it again.
Georgia Summer Cafe

In Japan there are often limited-time drinks and bentos for sale in the convenience stores. This is one of the limited-time canned coffees, the fairly nice "Summer Cafe".
Incidentaly, because it is summer, all of the coffee vending machines in the building only sell cold cans now, and quit selling the warm cans.

Roots' Mountain High

Another coffee from the Roots line of coffees. I really liked the previous Roots coffee I tried, and I like this one as well. The can still retains the distinctive shape, and the coffee itself was pretty good. It wasn't as sweet as the other Roots coffee I tried, but was nice.
I think the can is just hilarious though. I'm positive the Mountain High is some sort of nod to pot, just look at that green color scheme and three-leafed plant up there. Maybe it's just me though.

Georgia MAX Coffee
I somehow managed to forget to upload this coffee. A few weeks back my friend Mami brought this coffee all the way from Chiba, where she lives. You can't tell in this shot, but the can is maybe 1.3 times the size of the normal coffee cans, hence the MAX I assume. It was a nice sweet coffee, I liked it a lot. I also appreciated the extra coffee, coming from the land of the Super Size Coca-Cola at McDonalds that would be laughably large over here.
Mami said that this was, for some unknown reason, a special can limited only to Chiba. Neat.

Canned coffee backlog
This past week I've had four new coffees - I think. They were all quite good, a bit sweet, and enjoyable. I really think the Fire brand of coffees has been quite good overall, and I like Boss just about always. All of these pictures were also taken with the camera on my phone, which is surprisingly good when I set things up correctly.

Roots Inspiration

Today's coffee, picked up at the local 7-11, is the inspirational Roots Inspiration. Actually, I really like this coffee for three reasons. First, I think it has an attractive color scheme, mixing some light browns and an imrpobable purple. Second, look at the can! It's not just a normal, boring cylinder, it has some strange deformation at the bottom. Third, it actually tastes pretty good. It is kind of sweet, and has a nice flavor. I'll definitely check out other Roots coffees, I believe I've seen at least one other type with this brand.

Georgia Emblem Black

Wow, a bitter, bitter coffee. I expected that from the label, but still. Since I decided to document the local coffees, I know I have to drink these bitter ones every once in a while, but I wasn't looking forward to it. I think tomorrow's coffee will be tastier though.
On the other hand, I used to really dislike
Hershey's Minitures "Special Dark" chocolate bars as well, but after having to eat lots of them because nobody else in my family would (they always went after the Krackle bars first) I kind of like them now. Maybe the same thing will happen with bitter coffee.

Georgia Wild Drip

Today's coffee is Georgia Wild Drip. It was pretty good, a nice sweet blend. Georigia is the last brand of coffee that I haven't tried yet in the local vending machines.

Georgia Grande

Another Georgia coffee. I liked this one, a bit more bitter than the Espresso Caffe, but I liked it more.
April 20, 2006
Georgia Espresso Caffe

Today's coffee is Georgia's Espresso Caffe. My first coffee from Georgia. It is pretty good.

Fire Only 1

Today's coffee: Fire's Only 1. It's pretty good. I've liked all the Fire coffees I've had so far.

Blendy Café La Mode

Belndy's "Very delicious" Café Olé. It is really good actually, and comes in a fat can - the same width as the usual america soda can, but shorter. Not too sweet, and a bit creamy because of the milk mix. I like it a lot.
Boring can design though.

Nescafé Takumi

Today's coffee is Nescafé's Takumi. Takumi probably means "skill" here, but I'm not really sure. It didn't really stand out in my mind at all, but was a pleasant hot coffee. Tasted very similar to the "Bitou" coffee actually. Apparently (definitely) my palate is not skilled enough to notice the finer distinctions between canned coffee blends. I already knew that though.

Nescafe Low Sugar

Today's daily Japanese coffee is Nescafé's Bitou Coffee, or low sugar coffee. It was hot, and pretty good. Sweet for something that is low sugar.
From today on I will only post daily coffee updates to the
Daily Japanese Canned Coffee section. I know I don't post much - mostly I'm just working and commuting, so nothing terribly interesting happens - but I don't like how these coffee pictures are overrunning my blog.
I have so far tried every coffee in one of the vending machines at work. I've got two more to go, and then I need to start on the local convenience stores.

Fire Course Ground Coffee

This coffee is one of the hot varieties. It comes out of the vending machine hot. Pretty hard to carry the can up 10 floors actually.
It it "course ground" coffee. It's pretty good. I like the hot variety. Also a bit sweet, but not as much as Wonda's morning shot, or Boss Rainbow Mountain.
Wonda Morning Shot

Today's coffee is Wonda's Morning shot. I've been seeing commercials for this on TV all over the place. Depite saying "Good morning" right there on the can, I'm having it in the afternoon. It is a nice blend, a bit sweet, right up there with Boss Rainbow Mountain.
I don't like the woman they use in the commercials though, so I probably won't try it again. It is like she is trying to threaten me into drinking Wonda in the morning.
