Dwarf Fortress tutorial

Dwarf Fortress is a game that I would like to play. I haven't had time to look into it though, and it looks hard to to learn. When I get a chance, I should check out these Dwarf Fortress tutorials.

And set up some machine that can play it. I hope it runs under WINE.

Hey Dave, I don't know if you're a big penny arcade fan, but they just wrote a pretty cute comic about the kindle (and news link, too ;))

Penny Arcade on Kindle
Yeah, I saw that. I generally read Penny Arcade, but I guess that I only understand about 20% of their comics. Seriously. I think you have to really be into the gamer scene to understand even what they are complaining about. Actually, I usually don't find Penny Arcade understandable, even when I read the blog posts associated with each entry (especially when I read them!)

But if you are interested in geeky comics, you can't beat XKCD - who have a kindle related comic too.

Dwarf Fortress on Wine
There is a nice thread on the Ubuntu Forums about running Dwarf Fortress under wine.

Instructions worked fine for me under Fedora. So now I have a machine that I can use to play the game on. I don't have time to play it, but at least I have things set up now.
